Fashion House Millom

About Us

In 1950 Magda and her husband Alexander Friedman bought a little house on Wellington Street, Millom, converted it into a shop and began stocking skirts and separates for the women of Cumberland.

The little shop on the edge of the Lake District was successful from the start and when in 1958 the butcher's premises next door came up for sale, Magda and Alexander didn't hesitate to snap up the much needed extra space, even though the deal involved buying all the butchers equipment as well!

There is little evidence of the humble beginnings of the Fashion House on Wellington Street today. Run by Magda and Alexander's son and daughter, Robert and Judith, the Fashion House is a well established and much respected business with a reputation for classic, elegant clothes that stretches far beyond the little town of Millom.

In addition to this countywide customer base, the Fashion House is a favourite haunt for women from Lancashire, Yorkshire and even as far south as London.

Robert buys his stock from all over Europe and the USA and insists on timeless elegance and classic good looks in all that he brings back to Millom.
